Some of our friends love the place, but we just don't get it. Lines out the door for breakfast at this place, probably because it's one of the few diners in town. But we've never had such bland food from a diner before, no seasoning at all on anything (you'd think that a Greek omelet with spinach and olives would have flavor - but guess again!) You're better off with an Egg McMuffin. The last time I gave it a try they even forgot my toast to go with my flavorless food.

We had breakfast on two mornings. Both were outstanding. The Crab Benedict and Seafood Omelet were overflowing with seafood and the taste was divine.

Short stop for breakfast on our 2nd day of visiting Rehoboth for a weekend getaway. Location & Layout: Cyrstal Restaurant sits on the corner making it easy to find with plenty of parking around back. The place has two entrances the main one is facing the street and another on the side, which opens into the kitchen allowing a clear view of its cleanliness. Inside the place is an open floor plan, which also flows into the kitchen. The wood panel walls and wood plank floors mix well with the brick and faux fireplace but it kinda gave a feel like it's either only halfway finished in decoration or they're not sure where to go next. Service: We were seated quickly with a smile. Our server was nice, knew the menu well and was good with checking back on our needs. Food: The portions were good size. You're definitely not leaving there hungry. I ordered the Fired Tomatoes, Poached Eggs, which were cooked perfectly and Scrapple. I know it may not sound that good to most of you (and my wife definitely hated my ordering it) but it was cooked perfectly and tasted great! My wife ordered the Belgium Waffle, Eggs and Bacon and our daughter ordered the Ham and Eggs. The ham steak was huge and really good. I'd give the breakfast 5 Stars. Cleanliness: This was hard because the tables, kitchen and prep, and restrooms were very clean and better than most of the restaurants I've been at recently but my menu had a dead fly in it when I opened it up. Taking that into consideration I had to adjust the score accordingly. You just can't have dead insects anywhere especially stuck on the menu. Overall: The food was great, the service the same but the dead fly gives it the 3 Star Rating.

Great breakfast & Great service. Kinda small inside but it's still a nice warm place to visit.

Love this place!!! We go here all the time for breakfast.. Everything's always great, fast and yummy! Good morning drinks too- mimosas, bloody mary's.

We always eat here for breakfast every time we visit Rehoboth. Never had a bad meal here ever. The wait staff is very nice and fast. Even when there is a line outside to get in, you can count on getting your food in a reasonable time. For breakfast, the eggs Benedict or the build your own four egg omelet has never failed me. For lunch, my favorite is the French dip. Try it once and you will certainly go back again.

Prices are okay to start but the service was lousy and you have to pay extra for everything. Our waiter was horrible, didn't offer to refill our coffee one time. The French Toast was poorly done, no powered sugar or cinnamon. Just a few pieces of bread dipped in the egg mixture and dumped on a plate. Eggs didn't come with potatoes or anything like that, they upcharge for everything.

The BEST breakfast in Rehoboth! Good food. Good service. Good people. I love this place!

  • James H.

This is one of the best breakfast places around. This is our go-to place for breakfast - hands down. Prices are affordable, the food is great, and the service is pretty good too. Be prepared for a wait though - they get very busy around brunch and the line is usually out the door. Wait times aren't too bad though. I highly recommend the cream chipped beef. The only downside (and it's really not something that bothers me) is that it can get a little noisy inside due to the open floor plan. Not a determining factor for me though. Not one bit!

Ran out of the New England clam chowder, waitress informed me some guests thought it tasted funny, well ok hope no one is getting sick...The only other soup available was beef stew, she would check what the new soup would be, "beef barley" was the natural choice because every restaurant needs soups only of the beef variety and no one likes normal soups like chicken noodle, vegetable, tomato, crab, broccoli& cheddar, potato, etc The rest of their sides are not appealing fries, potatoes, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or applesauce? It is 2015, offer a vegetable or offer a side salad. The waitress refused when I asked if they could do a vegetable or side salad, which is definitely off-putting considering they had salads on the menu and they "ran out" of what I originally ordered. I settled with the apple sauce and felt much like a 5 year old. My monte crisco sandwhich was forgettable, the coffee was ok... took too long to get a refill however. My friends do seem to love this place, perhaps I'll have to give it another shot. But definitely not a good first impression.

A modest exterior Hides the best restaurant secret in Rehoboth---- The one the locals use. the best part of this restaurant that we have found (so far) is amazing Eggs Benedict, a huge breakfast steak that's the size of a dinner steak, delicious Hash Browns, and iced tea that's obviously fresh brewed with care. Our waiter has been great, even though it's busy. Expect to wait during prime times!

This seemed to be one of the better rated breakfast spots in the Rehoboth area so we decided to give it a try. Overall, it was nothing special, just solid breakfast fare. The pancakes were decent and the bacon was good. Service was so-so and the prices were a little expensive for the quality. The parking lot in the back was convenient. Luckily we got there around 10 AM, right before the Sunday brunch rush. By the time we left there was probably a 30 minute wait for tables.... so get there early!

After searching all over Rehoboth for somewhere for breakfast, we finally settled on Crystal Restaurant. And they did not disappoint. The place was clean, and we did not have a wait at all like I've read in the other reviews. We were greeted immediately, and seated just as quickly. After a tough deliberation on what we would have for breakfast, my husband and I decided that we would each have the two egg combo with choice of meat and home fries. I ordered my eggs scrambled with my choice of sausage where my husband decided to have his eggs over light, with bacon. By far this is probably the best restaurant breakfast I had in years. The food came out within 10 minutes and was cooked exactly to order. Not to mention the coffee was absolutely delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like a good home cooked breakfast quick and tasty.

Big breakfast: four-egg omelets with whatever you want in them, crab eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles - this place does breakfast right. Superior servers never let your coffee cup run dry.

  • Mike B.

Plentiful good food, reasonable prices for high summer beach time, very quick service despite a large and noisy crowd. Check them out!

    (4)
  • Daryl G.

Service was good. It is a busy place but server came back to check a few times. Food was great and huge portions. Is a little pricey to build an omelet but everything else was within reason. Will return on our next vacation.

  • James B.

Breakfast was great. Service was fast. Will go back the next time in town. Definitely would recommend to a friend.

First time @ Crystal's! A much need breakfast after a night out! The food was great! I was able to order what I wanted...the way I wanted it! Egg whites with cheddar! The coffee was hot and fresh! Despite the fact it was Mother's Day and they were slammed...service was quick and our waitress was great! Def going back!

  • K B.

The traditional greasy spoon of the beach restaurants. Homey atmosphere. Not the best food around, but better than the IHOP or Cracker Barrel. Family style home cooking. Crowded in the morning, and there may be a line. A bit pricey for what you get. A once a year visit is all that one needs.

    (3)
  • Claude H.

Best breakfast in Rehoboth Beach. This gets a 4 versus a 3 star rating because of the crab cake, the great wait staff and massive portions. Their breakfast combination specials are a great way to go. I have to note, our waiter, Alex, was on college break, and this young man was phenomenal.

    (4)
  • Neal Z.

It's worth the wait. An authentic breakfast restaurant with friendly hostess and servers. Eggs, waffles, grits and all the meats except turkey bacon. Maybe next year.

    (5)
  • Ann S.

This is where the locals go. It's not quiet so be prepared to yell just to hear your table mate. I got eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. It was all delicious and service was a little slow but it was crowded. Good prices, friendly hostess. This is definitely the best breakfast place in Rehoboth.

Hmmm... Though the food and prices make this a great, reliable food place (think diner-ish), today gave me pause. Not because of the food but the service. Our server seemed to be more interested in hanging out with the other servers and the regulars he knew. He kept pushing us to order though we'd barely got seated and then he disappeared the second time we told him we weren't ready yet. When we were seated, we found used creamers in the cream basket and some used sugar packets stuffed back into the holder. Some people. While dining we were horrified to see the ?busser? spray Windex all over the table next to us, getting it on the utensils that were left behind supposedly unused by the last patrons, and S&P shakers. He then wiped the table with rag he'd kept under his armpit before moving on. We watched him repeat this with several other tables. SERIOUSLY?!? Order came. Food fine. Paid and left. Will be back but cautious.

The back door is the way to enter -- bar is the best seat in the house --very friendly and attentive bartender --- coffee in your cup before you're seated --- YES. Great eggs benedict and interesting breakfast conversation -- on the top of my list for breakfast in Rehoboth.

  • Shawn F.

Very much enjoyed this place. The breakfast was really good. Service was a little slow but to their defense it was busy. Will go back again for sure.

First time here. Breakfast for myself and 3 teenagers was $40 not bad. Portions were huge. Great food and very fast service. A little loud due to the open floor plan. But we will definitely eat there again.

A Saturday morning in August and the wait was about 15 minutes, not unreasonable. I don't judge diners by decor or anything other than the essentials: is the food hot, edible and non-lethal? What works particularly well here is anything with crabmeat. I don't think they use any filler: just crab meat. Husbear loved his breakfast and would totally return for this spin on eggs benedict. I liked mine fine, although I found the potatoes greasy. That's not a sin: that's a commandment. The coffee was fine and our server was a spirited young man who never stopped moving and my cup was never empty. The price was quite reasonable, service was very good. Keep in mind the tables are mostly for four although they can fit larger groups with patience.

Good moderate food... A bit overpriced. But a staple in Rehoboth if you haven't been there.

    (3)
  • Stan G.

Very good seafood omelette. My wife enjoyed her gyro omelette too. Staff is very friendly but the service is slow. We sat at the bar in back and had friendly conversations with local folks.

    (4)
  • Ski s.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Generous helpings and tasty food. The hash browns are the best I've had. And they don't skimp on the seafood in the omelet. This should be your last stop on your way out of town. We were a party of 7 and everyone loved the food.

  • India B.

Breakfast was pretty good...Crab benedict could have used a little more seasoning.

Had Crab Benedict with chipped beef on my potatoes. Dam that was som good food. The place was packed and the service was kinda slow but I will eat here again for sure !!!!

    great breakfast !!!!!!!

  • James A.

Great, Great, Great. I ordered the omeltte, with a side of shit on a shingle. The omelette was huge, and fluffy and it had veggies and cheese mixed through out it. I couldn't finish it, but it was very good. S0S was really good, but I'm low carbing it, so I couldn't eat it over toast, I just dabbled and took bites of it and picked the dried beef out. Very good, tasted like I cooked it. Everyone plates came out fast and no one complained. Our waiter was johnny on the spot. If you don't like alternative lifestyles and or are creeped out by people that are gay, you won't like this place. We were the only straight people there. I was there to throw down, and what people do is their business. I will go back everytime I'm in town. Love it!!!

  • M P.

Dry, bland, over priced food in a drab, ugly dining room with competent, if weird, service. It is clean and fast, however. Definitely a place catering more to the AARP crowd.

    (3)
  • Lisa G.

Good, quick breakfast sit down restaurant. Waitress was very attentive to our table. Toppings for omelette were over priced.

    (4)
  • Christine H.

We ate here this past weekend and were told to expect a diner-like experience which is exactly what it was. The food was good and they give you large portions so we definitely didn't leave hungry. Our service was great including crayons and a coloring book for our toddler son plus lots of coffee refills. If you're looking for a no frills environment and great tasting food this is right for you.

    (4)
  • Scott Z.

Service is horribly slow. Avoid. Food was fine, not great, but not bad, and priced right. But the lunch service was horribly slow: with the restaurant mostly empty and several servers available, it took 20 minutes for someone to come by - he was visiting a nearby table - and ask if we'd been helped (we hadn't). But he didn't take drink orders, and it was another 5 minutes before we saw our server. We ordered, and drinks came out within a few minutes, but food took another 20 minutes. We were a quiet party of 4 (2 adults, 2 well-behaved children).

    (2)
  • Deanna G.

Hot, fresh breakfast and attentive waitstaff. They were cleaning around us and the prices are a little questionable, especially for a build-your-own omelette (cheese is $1.50 extra...????) but man, the food & coffee were great.

  • Paul H.

This is a great place for breakfast. Go there. I had eggs, bacon, rye toast and coffee. All really good. Not greasy. Don't be fooled by the exterior as there is a large, reddish orange faded awning that makes the place look a little seedy. Inside it is neat and clean. The staff is friendly and courteous. Also, quite reasonably priced.

    (5)
  • Big B.

Food is pretty good but a bit higher priced than some other beach diners. Very popular--seems to be the place to see and be seen in some circles. The crowd makes for a bit slower service, but fine. Nothing special here, but good eats.

Five of us came here for breakfast on a Sunday. We had to wait about 20 mins for a table, not as problem. But then when the host came to seat us he asked if the five of us were willing to squeeze into a four top. We didn't have a problem with that. What I did have a problem with was the fact that he didn't set the table for 5, or even bother to pull up the extra chair. I ended up pulling a chair, silverware, and coffee cup from the table behind me. The service was slow, they seem to be understaffed. (I worked at an IHOP for several years during HS/college and can see when things at a breakfast joint are coming undone) The food was just average, nothing good, nothing bad. I had 2 eggs and ham. You can't really get it wrong. It was SUPER loud in there. I would give it 3 stars for the food, but the service and noise knocks it down to 2.

BEST BREAKFAST IN REHOBOTH!! 1st time back to Rehoboth in 11yrs and was hoping that the Crystal (previously the Shanty) was still the same!! They did NOT Disappoint! Food was great, and the portions are still large! They have great home fries and sausage! The omlets are HUGE made with 4 eggs! Nobody had a complaint when we ate there and I was worried since I talked the place up so much I was in for a beating if they failed me. Everything came out HOT and pretty quick and as ordered, this was impressive since the place was packed on a Sunday Morning and we had a 15min wait to get a table. (due to us having 7 people) The staff and our waitress was really nice and even chatted with us about our kids, she was even nice enough to get us a rubberband when my daughter needed one. I thought that was really nice of her! Only thing that changed about this place was they remodled the inside and it looked great! Only thing is the place is alittle loud when they are busy. They have nothing in the place to absorb the sound. Still this is NO DEAL BREAKER! Go to the Crystal and ENJOY!!!

Delicious food and excellent service. We have been eating at Crystal's for 15 years. Everything is home made and fresh. You will not be disappointed. We eat breakfast or lunch there almost everyday. It's the best. The owners cook and prepare the food. They work along with their staff daily. Family owned and operated. Everyone is very professional and friendly.

We stayed within walking distance to the Crystal Diner and ate there frequently. The food was good, consistent, and typical diner fare. Each time we went there, the service was good and the staff seemed eager to please. On one occasion, we went with our 4 and 2 year old daughters. As soon as we sat down, the hostess placed a few coloring books and a bucket of crayons in front of my older daughter. Perfect entertainment. They were very patient with my kids and looked the other way when my older daughter decided to make a meal of the jam and half and half packets. Overall a very pleasurable experience.

Great, fast service (like lightening) with great French toast, eggs and good coffee. It can be a little crowded and loud.

This is the best place for breakfast. We all had the Shrimp and Crab Omelet with whatever you want inside it. You can see the big pieces of Shrimp and chucks of Crab meat with out any filler. Plus, the home made Pancakes with Blueberries. Can I say outstanding! Our server Carlos was the "bomb" I will go back again because the price is right!

Tasty and cheap diner breakfast with attentive service. Can't beat that.

  • Chloe C.

Great breakfast joint! There are tons of options and I enjoyed my breakfast of french toast, scrambled eggs, home fries and a side of blueberries. My friend ordered the spanish omlette which we don't recommend but the rest of the food was delicious. Great price and selection- I'd recommend it!

  • Ruby D.

Had a late breakfast there today and had a wonderful meal. This is your classic owner operated "diner", and like most places we visited in Rehoboth, good quality served by nice people. This is a long walk from the beach area, but certainly worth a drive. Great eggs, sausage, ham steaks, all served quickly by attentive staff. Very popular with the locals for its home-style meals, I would highly recommend.

  • Carrie L.

Second time I've eaten here. I remembered that they had a really great fresh fruit platter for breakfast, but the second time it was not listed on the menu; however, you can't go wrong. There are monster omelettes, waffles, pancakes, french toast, and all the accoutrements. The hot coffee just keeps on coming and servings are generous. You can order a side of blueberries or strawberries, if they are in season. Great for breakfast--always a wait--but they are open for lunch and dinner (in season) too. I haven't been there for anything but breakfast.

  • M D.

this is the best diner, ever. Great omelette's ! There is always a wait in the morning, but the food is worth it, we called in and picked up and the food was perfect, no problems with the orders.

  • P I.

This place is only open through mid-afternoon. It's on A1A, the road going into the town of Rehoboth Beach, a block back on west side of the canal bridge. As others have described, it is basically a diner in a family restaurant-style setting. It is head and shoulders above the Rehoboth Diner (much better customer-service). For even better breakfasts, though, I recommend Retro Cafe near the boardwalk or Arena's Deli (the second one) on Rt 1 between RB and Dewey, if you don't mind sitting outside under an arbor. That one is dog-friendly, also.
